Shoe Giveaway Event to Help Those in Need

 Samaritan’s Feet, hosted by City Gates Ministries, is sponsoring the annual shoe giveaway to those in need. 500 PAIRS OF NEW SHOES!! This annual event has demonstrated our care and love for a community of those in need. Samaritan’s Feet is a ministry that provides new shoes to those in need. Lacey’s own Timberline High School football star, Jonathan Stewart, from the Carolina Panthers, is helping to give back to his local community.

Before the Passover and, ultimately, His death on the Cross, Jesus donned servant’s attire and towel, and “He poured water into a basin and began to wash His disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around Him.” (John 13:5) Jesus demonstrated his love and honor of His disciples by this act, usually only done by servants of the household to their masters. Jesus was “walking the talk” that He instructed his disciples during His ministry when He declared to them: “the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Matt 20:27) This same service Jesus talks about is demonstrated during the shoe giveaway: everyone new shoe recipient will have their feet washing before getting their new pair of shoes fitted.

We are looking for volunteers who want to provide this service that Jesus modeled for us. By washing feet and placing shoes on a child or adult of need, you are honoring them as Jesus did, as well as providing protection for their feet and are demonstrating what being is servant is, on behalf of the Lord Jesus Christ.
